With its 884 hp, the electric Polestar 5 is aimed at the Porsche Taycan
It seems that Peugeot, Renault and Polestar have reached an agreement. They all unveil a camouflaged model this week. The difference is that Peugeot and Renault stick to photos and this Polestar 5 conquers the hill climb at the Goodwood Festival of Speed.
Polestar’s naming convention is confusing. The 4 is smaller than the 3 but larger than the 2. And then there will also be a Polestar 6, which will be quite a compact electric sports car. At the top of the delivery program is this Polestar 5, which aims its arrows at the Porsche Taycan and the Tesla Model S.
The all-wheel drive Polestar 5 is 884 hp
The currently most powerful Polestar is the 4, which as a long range has an output of 544 hp and 686 Nm of torque. The Polestar 5 tops that with a powertrain that produces no less than 884 hp and 900 Nm. At the Goodwood Festival of Speed, the four-door coupe is still wrapped in camouflage film, but its appearance is already known from earlier photos.
High loading speeds, just like the Porsche Taycan
Like the Audi E-Tron GT and the Porsche Taycan, the Polestar 5 also has 800-volt technology on board, which enables very short charging times. The Audi and the Porsche achieve a charging speed of 270 kW. It is not yet known how quickly the Polestar can “fill up” with electricity. Incidentally, the model was also on display at Goodwood last year. The Polestar 5 will be launched next year.
