Are you still a new customer for VDL Nedcar?
Good news from Limburg, because the company VDL Nedcar – where Minis are now built – seems to have a new customer. This is also necessary because the BMW Group will stop producing mini models at the Born plant from 2023.
There has been some unrest at VDL Nedcar for some time. Several customers have stopped by, but no new contract has been signed yet. Now that seems to be changing.
A new customer for VDL Nedcar
1Limburg reports that a deal with an unknown company is on the table. In fact, VDL Nedcar has signed a letter of intent. This emerges from an internal communication from the management to the workforce and is confirmed to 1Limburg by a company spokesman.
The new customer of VDL Nedcar ultimately has to provide 3,000 jobs at the production site. However, this depends on the sales volume of the brand. The new customer wants to use the factory until 2026.
Little is currently known about who the customer is and when all the paperwork can be done. In addition, VDL Nedar does not bet on a horse. The company says it is still in talks with other potential customers.
