Will the new Honda ZR-V finally be a European success?

Will the new Honda ZR-V finally be a European success?

Honda’s money does not go to Europe. For that you have to look towards the USA and your home country Japan. Still, Honda recently unveiled three new models: the sixth-generation CR-V, Honda’s first electric SUV, and an all-new model called the Honda ZR-V. We take a closer look at the latter in this video.

This ZR-V has what it takes to be a success in our country. A C-segment SUV, isn’t that what we Dutch love? However, it is slightly longer than the bestsellers in this segment: the Hyundai Tucson and the Nissan Qashqai.

Less solid impression than the Civic

Overall, this Honda ZR-V is an upscale Civic. Per se not wrong, because even if the Civic is not a complete success in the Netherlands, it is a good car that deserves it. However, there is a caveat to be aware of. Because where this Civic rolls out of a Japanese factory, this new ZR-V is made in China, and you can feel it. The interior of the Civic makes a slightly more solid impression. Luckily, the ZR-V makes up for that with a very user-friendly layout of all the interior buttons.

The new Honda ZR-V may be available in three versions, but under the hood these versions are identical. There’s the naturally breathing 2.0-liter four-cylinder that you’ll also find in the Honda Civic. The block is also connected to two electric motors in this C-segment SUV. One motor supports the car’s propulsion and the other serves as support for the electrical systems on board. The drive delivers a decent 184 hp and 315 Nm, with which the Japanese sprints from 0 to 100 km/h in 7.8 seconds.

Honda ZR-V finally European success?

It is a pleasant powertrain in which the various (electric) motors are well matched. However, the Honda ZR-V also has some disadvantages. You can see what they are and whether they stand in the way of success on European soil in the latest Autovisie video.
