Maddie McCann case – Explosive statement in letter Christian B.: “Yes, she did not scream”

Christian B. is the prime suspect in the Madeleine McCann case. In a letter to a British journalist, he explains why the police targeted him.

Madeleine McCann, then four years old, disappeared in Portugal in 2007. Christian B.*(46) would have something to do with her disappearance. The German has been detained in Oldenburg (D) since October 2020 for several sex offenses. Because of the rape of a 72-year-old American woman, he has to stay there until 2026.

In a three-page handwritten letter to a British journalist, the convicted prison rapist comments on the Maddie case. At one point he even makes a statement that comes across as a confession. First reported the “image”.

“Yes, She Didn’t Yell”

In his letter, B. tries to explain why he is wrongly accused. In one passage he refers to a conversation in 2008 with a friend – Helge B.*, a key witness in the case of the missing girl. At that time, the petty criminal and Christian B. had both long since ceased to live in Portugal.

In a conversation with his former buddy, the key witness is said to have said that there are many problems in Portugal – because of the missing girl. And: That the police are on the road a lot. The prime suspect allegedly said, “Yeah, she wasn’t yelling.”

This statement would have led the police to blame Christian B. But according to Christian B., the star witness only lied to get out of prison in Greece earlier – which he denies. Helge B. has fully served his sentence for human trafficking.

“It’s been hot air for me so far”

However, the lawyer for the main suspect considers this statement implausible: “First of all, it must be established whether such a conversation took place at all. Other witnesses have made other statements, namely that such a conversation never took place.” According to him, only then can the specific content be discussed. “It has been hot air for me so far,” says the lawyer.

However, the detectives seem to rely on the statements of the witnesses. The excavations at the Arade reservoir in Portugal have also started after a tip from an informant. This confirms another statement by key witnesses Helge B. and Manfred S.*

When the main suspect was in prison, the two broke into his house and allegedly took a gun and a video camera with reliable recordings and threw them into the reservoir.

Prime suspect is doing himself a disservice

Whether the claims are true or not, one thing is clear: Christian B. is doing himself anything but a service by writing letters.

This is also the opinion of criminal justice professor Dennis Bock (44) of the University of Kiel in Germany. He tells the newspaper “Bild”: “The suspect would do well to refrain from independent communication with third parties.” (lia)
