Ben Wallace, the British Defense Secretary, warns that the weapons that can be sent to Ukraine are running low.

Ben Wallace (53) sounds the alarm. The British defense minister warns that the arsenals of Ukraine’s western allies are running out.

While Western support is unwavering, Wallace told the Washington Post that “we’re all running out of guns” that can be shipped to Ukraine.

‘West must be prepared for anything’

The result: “Britain and other countries are forced to buy more arms.” According to the defense minister, the situation indicates that Kremlin chief Vladimir Putin (70) still thinks he can win if he sends more troops into the war. Wallace thinks this is because Putin is not well aware of the situation on the battlefield.

Therefore, the war can drag on until Russia is on the verge of collapse. Should that be the case, says Wallace, “NATO and the West must be prepared for anything.”

So far the UK has pledged £4.6bn worth of arms. Most recently, the country stepped up its support after sending long-range missiles to Ukraine for the first time in mid-May. The included “Storm Shadow” cruise missiles have an impressive range of about 300 kilometers.

British strategy expert Howard Wheeldon fears that this could already be the end of the road for support from Britain. He told the Daily Mail: “It is a sad fact that after the delivery of an unknown number of probably expired Storm Shadow missiles, the UK has little else to offer.” Wheeldon’s assessment: “We are a nation running out of defense resources.”

Wallace believes that Crimea will soon be reconquered

Despite dwindling arms supplies, Secretary of Defense Wallace is optimistic about the further course of the war. He even assumes that Ukraine will be able to retake the Crimea peninsula annexed by Putin this year.

The reason: the Russians are running out of armed forces. Wallace: “We’ve seen on the battlefield Russian troops collapse when hit in the wrong place.” (Darling)
