Returning home after the floods in Emilia-Romagna: “Everything was full of mud, the stench was disgusting”

Neighbors are fighting to get their homes and lives back. Sometimes they sing while filling buckets with mud, but the memory of those hours lives on.

Two weeks after the floods that hit the Italian region of Emilia-Romagna and claimed fifteen lives, there are still a thousand evacuees. The balance includes 781 closed roads and more than 422 landslides.
