Putin friend Kadyrov threatens West: ‘Show us what revenge is’ ‘Unnecessarily aggressive’: Chinese jet presses down American plane

Russia vows revenge for recent drone attacks on Moscow. Not only Ukraine should feel the hatred.
An article from

The attacks came unexpectedly and with force: in the night from Sunday to Monday, the Russian capital Moscow was the target of drone attacks. Read here what exactly happened.

The Ministry of Defense in Moscow spoke of an attack with eight drones. Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin reported minor damage to several buildings and two people were injured.

Pro-Kremlin propagandist Vladimir Soloviev claimed that 32 drones fell on Moscow. Also in the Rublyovka district of the Moscow region. According to an independent Russian media portal, the Novo-Ogaryovo region would also have been targeted by the drones. The ruler of the Kremlin, Vladimir Putin, also has his residence there.

According to a Russian military blogger, the drones were similar to those used by Ukraine in its war against Russian invaders. This is reported by the American think tank Institute for the Study of War (ISW) in its daily situation report.

Ukraine uses Ukrjet UJ-22 drones, among others. The drones have a range of 800 kilometers and can carry up to 20 kilos of explosives in the form of mines or grenades.

Ukraine denies responsibility

Alongside Kremlin chief Vladimir Putin, who accused Kiev of terror and announced a response, his closest confidant Ramzan Kadyrov vowed revenge: the leader of the Chechnya Republic of Russia in the North Caucasus called for martial law to be imposed in Russia to the tougher crackdown on Ukraine.

“We will soon show in the zone of military special operations what revenge is in the full sense of the word,” Kadyrov wrote in his blog on the Telegram news channel. Again he threatened Western Europe with Russian attacks, saying that Russia could knock on the door of, say, Germany or Poland.

Since the attacks, there has been an atmosphere of retaliation in Russia. Ukraine has denied responsibility for the airstrikes. The confidant of the Ukrainian president, Mikhailo Podoliak, said his country was not directly involved in the attacks. However, he suspected that there could be more such attacks in the future.

White House: Don’t support attacks in Russia

The US government has also commented on the drone attacks on Moscow and has confirmed that it will not support attacks inside Russia. “We have made clear statements not only publicly but also privately to the Ukrainians, but we do not want to get involved in hypotheses,” White House spokeswoman Karine Jean-Pierre said in Washington on Tuesday.

Information is currently being collected to find out exactly what happened. At the same time, she made it clear: “We do not support attacks inside Russia. Period.” She again called on Russia to end the war in Ukraine and condemned “brutal” Russian air strikes on the neighboring country.

On the other hand, according to British Foreign Secretary James Cleverly, Ukraine has the right to attack targets on Russian territory in self-defense. “Legitimate military targets beyond its own borders are part of Ukraine’s right to self-defense,” Cleverly said at a press conference with his Estonian counterpart Margus Tsahkna in the Estonian capital Tallinn on Tuesday. Slim declined to comment on the drones falling on Moscow.

New shelling from Ukrainian side on Tuesday

Although Moscow has only recently been the scene of such drone strikes, there have been long reports of attacks by artillery and drones from the neighboring country, especially from regions close to the border with Ukraine. The governor of the Belgorod region, Vyacheslav Gladkiv, reported on Tuesday evening renewed shelling of the region from the Ukrainian side. There is one dead and one injured.

In early May, a drone strike over the Kremlin was repelled. Kremlin chief Putin praised the air defense’s work, but also said it needs to be tighter and better.
