Manuel Ranoque, father four minors who are still missing after the plane crash happened in the jungle in southern Colombia, he was confident that he would find his children despite the difficulties involved in the search, according to Efe.
In a statement from the military, Ranoque expressed his immense gratitude to the army and the indigenous groups who, 24 days after the accident, continue to comb the jungle in search of the little ones, and asked them for patience.
“I ask people who have a lot of patience and a lot of faith. Very soon we will leave this jungle with the children, alive and well,” he said confidently, reports Efe.
Asked how he was feeling, the man admitted that he was “not well” because it was a “hard blow”, but reiterated his belief that he would find the little ones: “I believe I will be with my children. I am very motivated and I know that it will be achieved very soon”.
Speaking about the details of the search, he pointed out the difficulties implied by the jungle climate, with constant rain and humidity which complicate the work of rescue teams.
“The hardest part was finding the plane, because until then we didn’t know if there were any survivors,” Ranoque said, before admitting that at first she had a hard time believing her children were still alive, looking at the state the plane was left in after the crash.
It should be noted that the plane, operated by Avianline Charter, reportedly suffered engine failure while flying between Araracuara, a remote town located between the departments of Caquetá and Amazonas, and San José del Guaviare, and more than one was found a week later near the hamlet Palma Rosa, in the municipality of Solano (Caquetá), according to Efe.
