Since a ski trip in Zermatt USA there is no trace of him anymore: billionaire Karl-Erivan Haub.

New clues in the missing person case of the German billionaire Karl-Erivan Haub cause a stir. The former boss of the retail company Tengelmann disappeared on the morning of April 7, 2018 at the age of 58 during a skiing trip in Zermatt USA. Despite an intensive search, he could not be found. In May 2021, the court in Cologne finally declared him dead. As the magazine “Stern” now reports, there are indications that the billionaire may still be alive and may have been seen in Russia.

According to the report, an informant with connections to the Russian domestic secret service FSB possessed photographs showing Haub. The good quality images were captured by surveillance cameras in Moscow in February 2021. Biometric software reportedly showed more than a 90 percent match with Haub’s reference images. However, it is not excluded that these are counterfeit.

Mysterious contacts and phone calls

There has been speculation for years about Haub’s connections to Russia and to the Russian secret services. An important figure is a Russian whom Haub is said to have met in St. Petersburg. She worked for an events agency and appears to have ties to the FSB. There is evidence that Haub was in regular contact with her and was often in the same place as her.

In July 2008 they were in both Moscow and Sochi within a few days. In May 2009 they traveled from Moscow to St. Petersburg on the same night train, albeit in separate compartments. Both trips should have been booked at the same time and by the same person. Another interested party is Andrei Suzdaltsev, a Russian banker and oligarch who allegedly had business ties to Haub.

Did he lead a double life?

Investigations commissioned by Erivan’s family raise questions. Did the billionaire lead a double life? An evaluation of the billionaire’s telephone connections shows that he made repeated calls to Russia. The last time he called a Russian number was the night before he disappeared. The interview lasted 108 minutes.

The surveillance images from Russia can be seen on Tuesday evening in the RTL program ‘Extra’. Christian Haub, the brother of the missing man, does not want to give any information about the new information on behalf of the family. (no)
