Friendly, popular, skilled: Tracy V.* (38) was named ‘Teacher of the Year’ in 2017. Now she’s making negative headlines. She was arrested. The reason: she allegedly had sex with a 16-year-old. Police arrested the math teacher on Thursday and set bail at $30,000, Fox News reports.

According to the school’s Facebook page, V. has been a member of the teaching staff since 2013 and received the “Teacher of the Year” award just four years later. The post praised her as an innovative teacher. “She strives to engage all of her students, from her intervention classes to her model students,” the school explained at the time of the awards ceremony.

The school has not yet commented on the arrest and allegations against V.

Already the third case in this school

It is not yet clear whether there are more victims. “Detectives and school authorities are working together to ensure a thorough investigation into this matter,” the news channel said. It is unclear whether the 16-year-old victim is still in school. However, it is not the first time the school has made headlines in this context. In V.’s case, it is the third time in ten years that a teacher has been accused of seducing one or more students.
