Opposition calls for resignation of UK Home Secretary for trying to hide identity in exchange for returning card points

Suella Braverman was fined last summer, before taking up her current post, for speeding on the outskirts of London

Labor and the Liberal Democrats this Sunday asked the British government to open an investigation into their home secretary, Suella Bravermandue to the alleged violation of the ministerial code of conduct by trying to avoid the consequences of a traffic violation.

Braverman was caught last summer, while she was not yet the head of the MUP, and she was the chief state attorney. exceeding the speed limit with her vehicle on the outskirts of London, after which she was fined.

Conservative politics tried, according to the Sunday paper Sunday Timesavoid deducting points from your driver’s license by choosing to take a “driving awareness” course.

However, in order not to have to personally attend the course together with other sanctioned drivers, nor to participate in an online meeting where your name and face would be visible to other participants, Braverman tried to run a private course.

Allegedly, when the officials in charge of organizing these courses for traffic offenders refused to cooperate, the minister turned to a political associate who, in turn, tried to persuade them to organize one just for the minister.

Accordingly, Braverman’s assistant even requested that the politician participate in an online course using an alias or keeping the camera off.

Rejecting her demands, the politician, otherwise a lawyer, gave up attending the course and decided to give up three points on his driver’s license.

Sunak was asked this Sunday at the G7 summit in Hiroshima (Japan) whether he plans to launch an investigation into the matter, but declined to comment, saying he did not have “all the details.”

“I don’t know all the details of what happened nor have I spoken to the interior minister,” he said.

For his part, the person in charge of occupational health, Liz KendallHe told Sky News that Sunak “should open an investigation and ask an independent counsel whether (Braverman) breached ministerial code standards in this case.”
