Oman wants to supply Switzerland with hydrogen Demo against “Drag Story Time” in Zurich is not approved, according to the police

Oman wants to set up its own hydrogen industry from 2025 – and could one day also supply Switzerland. “That is why we are in contact with energy suppliers from your country,” says Energy Minister Salim al-Aufi.

In addition, Oman is interested in Swiss know-how in the use and transport of hydrogen, al-Aufi said in an interview with “NZZ am Sonntag”. “That is why we talk to Swiss research institutions. And then the financial center is important to us. Because it will usually not be Oman that invests. But also local and foreign private investors.”

According to the energy minister, his country has great potential for hydrogen production from wind and solar energy. «In the southern part of Oman, we can use wind and solar energy at the same location. Thanks to this combination, we are one of the three areas with the best conditions in the world. There are only a handful of countries that have similar benefits, notably Australia, Morocco, Chile and Namibia.” (sda)
