Brave teen wants to swim in the sea again

The journey of Ella Reed (13) and her friend ended badly. While swimming in the sea, she was attacked by a shark. Her bite wounds required hospital treatment.

Although she fought for her life with the animal, she can’t wait to jump back into the sea. Local 10 reports.

Blood everywhere

Reed was on the beach with her friend. The two were waist-deep in water when the 13-year-old was attacked in the stomach by a shark. “The shark was very strong. I felt that because it hit my stomach so hard,” she told the TV channel. Reed believes it was a 5-foot bull shark.

First she punched the animal with her fist. Then the shark turned and attacked her a second time. “He wouldn’t leave me alone, so I had to use my arm and hand. That’s why he caught me there.” In the end, the teen was able to flee the shark.

After the attack, the girls immediately went to Reed’s family for help. “It was crazy because she was all covered in blood, basically from head to toe, so she couldn’t really see what was going on,” the mother recalls. Later, the bite wounds on the abdomen, arm, knee and finger had to be treated in the hospital with a total of 19 stitches.

“My adrenaline shot through the roof”

Looking back, the girl says of the attack, “I wasn’t really in pain because my adrenaline levels went through the roof.”

It is clear to the 13-year-old that she will be swimming in the sea again after her recovery. Until now she has never been afraid of the sea, and she wants to remain so. “It was clear water, so you never know when it will happen.” (lia)
