Six men and two women were arrested for the attack

Jean-Baptiste Trogneux, the great-niece of Brigitte Macron, was beaten on the night from Monday to Tuesday by a group of individuals protesting against the pension reform. Immediately before that, the President of the Republic gave an interview on television taking on this reform. Emmanuel Macron He also said that despite the protests, “the country is progressing” and condemned those who fiercely opposed it. “People who don’t want there to be solutions,” he said.

After hearing his words, a group of individuals organized wild demonstrations in Amiens, where Brigitte Macron’s family has a bakery, which has been regularly attacked since Macron was elected president. This time, the protesters threw trash cans at the Trogneux chocolate shop. This group was confronted by 30-year-old Jean-Baptiste Trogneux, who reacted by attacking him and inflicting multiple injuries on him and insulting the President of the Republic and his entire family.

As his father told various media, “He has a bruise on his head and broken fingers, and above all he is psychologically affected”. He managed to save himself from something worse thanks to the intervention of some neighbors. His great-aunt Brigitte Macron condemned the “cowardice, stupidity and violence” of the attackers which “can only lead to the worst”. He was eight people were arrestedsix men and two women, as perpetrators of aggression.

The entire political class condemned these events, which once again show the climate of violence that was created by the pension reform, but which appeared already during the yellow vest crisis.

In recent months, until the adoption of the law increasing the retirement age to 64, the unions unsuccessfully sought a dialogue with the Government.

Now Prime Minister Elisabeth Borne has finally opened the door to Matignon and is meeting with unions one by one to try to establish a dialogue after the breakup caused by the reform.

The unions accepted the invitation, ready to renew talks, especially on the issue of salaries. They agreed to demand that public support for companies be given on the condition that social goals, such as higher wages and environmental goals, are respected.

But they also want to keep the issue of pension reform alive by calling a new day of mobilization on June 6two days before the Parliament reviews the Liot group’s bill aimed at repealing the reform.
