The attack by Frank P.* (57) on emergency services in an apartment building in Ratingen (D) caused outrage throughout Germany. Dozens of police officers and firefighters were called to an apartment building last Sunday after some residents became concerned about the perpetrator’s mother († 92). She lived with P. in the apartment.

This is followed by an hours-long confrontation in which emergency services Frank P. A special unit finally manages to gain access and P. is arrested.

When searching the apartment, the emergency services then found the body of the 92-year-old mother. According to the police, she died a few weeks ago through no fault of her own.

New details about the operation are now coming to light. The emergency services were at the door of the apartment and wanted to break it open. Suddenly, the perpetrator opened the door himself and tipped a flammable liquid at the emergency services.

Then P. lit a torch. A policewoman (25) reacted very quickly. According to a report from “Bild”, she drew her gun and asked the perpetrator to put away the burning object.

Apparently unimpressed, P. threw the torch to the emergency services. The policewoman was hit and fled burning into the stairwell.

Perpetrator quickly overpowered

But not only she was caught by the flames, other police officers and firefighters also fled. A total of 31 emergency services, including the policewoman, were injured, some of them life-threatening.

Because the policewoman left her gun behind when she fled, she came into possession of P. That made the heavily armed officers of the special operations team sweat. After all, P. could have shot them when they stormed the apartment.

The doubts turned out to be unfounded. The special unit acted so skillfully and quickly that P. could be overwhelmed immediately upon entry.
