In an express train of the Austrian Federal Railways (ÖBB), fragments of a speech by Adolf Hitler sounded through the loudspeaker.

Instead of the usual announcements, National Socialist phrases like a “Heil Hitler” call and several “Sieg Heil” calls scared the passengers, an ÖBB spokesperson confirmed a report in the newspaper “Der Standard” on Monday. According to previous findings, two suspects managed to gain access to one of the intercom stations in the wagons with a key and placed a mobile phone with the recording next to the microphone. “In addition, everything was played very hard. It was really uncomfortable and upsetting,” the spokesperson continued.

A report has been filed against the two suspects, who were clearly visible on video footage as they left Vienna. It is not known how they obtained the key, but it is excluded that they were employees of ÖBB, said the spokesperson. “It’s a standard key used all over Europe, of which there are probably tens of thousands.”

It was the third such incident on the St. Pölten-Vienna route within days. For the other incidents nursery rhymes played. In the latter case, a compilation of slips of the tongue in the regular information voice, children’s songs and the Hitler phrases, which could be called up on the Internet, could be heard for about eight minutes.
