President of Turkey, Islamist Recep Tayyip Erdoganleads with 52 percent of votes in the analysis of presidential elections in Turkey, when half of the polling stations are already open, reports the official Anadolu Agency.

According to these, still preliminary and unofficial data, Erdogan, who has been in power for two decades, won the third presidential election and would remain in office for another five years.

Candidate of the opposition bloc, Social Democrat Kemal Kilicdarogluyou would get 42%.

However, as the count progresses, the gap between the two candidates was narrowing.

If no one gets an absolute majority, the second round will take place in two weeks.

Actually, CHP, Kiliçdaroglu’s partyensures that the data available to him shows that his candidate is winning.

Ekrem Imamoglu, social democratic mayor of Istanbul, in an intervention in front of the media, condemned that Anatolia’s data are not reliable and confirmed that, according to information available to the party, Kiliçdaroglu “will be declared president tonight”.

“Let’s move forward,” said Kiliçdaroglu himself in a message on the social network Twitter.

The third candidate, a nationalist Sinam Oganhe would have 5% of the ballots.

He counting progress is very different by regionand in big cities like Istanbul, Ankara and Izmir, where the opposition has more support, it is a little slower than in the whole country, so the results can still vary.
