Something is happening in Bakhmut: according to Russian military bloggers, small formations of Ukrainian troops have broken through at various points on the front.
Alexander Kots wrote in a panic on his Telegram channel with 654,000 subscribers: “Kiev’s counter-offensive has begun!”
The alarm bells are also ringing with the war correspondent of Russian state television, Yevgeny Poddubny (39). Given the successes of the Ukrainian attack on the flanks of the Wagner mercenaries fighting in the city, a comprehensive encirclement was imminent.
What is so disturbing to Kremlin bloggers is that after weeks of reports of a slow Russian advance in the Bakhmut region, Ukrainian troops are said to have broken through towards Berkhovka and Yagodnoye and are pushing the Russians back towards Soledad.
The bloggers report that the Ukrainian armed forces are organized into different units and tank groups of 2-3 tanks each. Thereafter, the troops attempted to hold each of these positions. “The situation is difficult” for the Russian occupiers, says Poddubny.
Kots writes: “Ukrainian army tanks are rolling along the Kharkov bypass towards the border with Russia. That is, Kiev decided to escalate the situation on Bakhmut’s flanks, in parallel with the start of offensives on the northern front.”
Russian positions near Bogdanivka are currently under heavy attack by Ukrainian forces.
The propaganda channel Rybar writes that an attack in the direction of Kharkiv is being prepared. The Ukrainians had formed there with about 30,000 fighters. Drones would be brought into the region to spread panic among Russian troops.
The Ukrainian General Staff has not yet confirmed any of these reports. However, the Russian Defense Ministry hastily reported and denied all relevant reports. “The statements made by individual Telegram channels about ‘defense breakthroughs’ occurring at different points along the line do not correspond to reality.”
The ministry then lists several successfully repelled attacks by Ukraine. Claims: “The enemy is suffering significant losses in manpower and equipment.”
And the Kremlin assured that the general situation in the war zone was “under control”.
