Menacing scenes in Bernburg, Germany: A bee colony of more than 1,000 animals surrounded a man on Tuesday. When he then fled in his Ford, the insects settled on his car, writes “Bild”. The man called 911.
Fire brigade, rescuers and police went out. But the officials didn’t know either. The road was closed and a beekeeper had to put an end to the scare.
Dressed in a protective suit and equipped with a hand brush and spray bottle, the beekeeper collected one bee after another and swept them into a container.
Meanwhile, the man had to watch as his entire windshield was occupied by the bees until he could barely see anything. He was unharmed.
According to Radio Brocken, the man was on his way to pick up his wife from the doctor when he was suddenly followed by the swarm of bees.
Why they persisted after he locked himself in the car is unclear. Due to the pollen season, bees are particularly active at the moment. (jwg)
