The death toll in Palestine continues to rise as Israel eliminates terrorists

The fighting between the Israeli army and the Palestinians in the Gaza Strip continues. On Thursday evening, Israeli forces reported another strike on targets in the Gaza Strip, which targeted the mastermind behind the Islamic Jihad missile program. And this despite Egypt reporting that a ceasefire could be negotiated.

This has happened in the past few days:

Fight against militant Palestinians

On the Israel side, this is explained by the fact that it is still in the middle of an operation against the militant Palestinian organization Islamic Jihad, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said in a speech on Wednesday night.

Media had previously reported that Egypt had brokered a ceasefire. However, there was no official confirmation from any of the parties involved. Qatar and the UN would work with Egypt for a ceasefire.

attacks and counterattacks

Hamas and Islamic Jihad, which rule the Gaza Strip, are classified as terrorist organizations by the US, the EU and Israel. Both groups have taken on the cause of Israel’s destruction.

“We dealt Islamic Jihad the heaviest blow in its history,” Netanyahu claimed. The Israeli Air Force attacked more than 100 targets of Palestinian militant organizations in the Gaza Strip, including weapons production sites and a headquarters from which the group planned Israeli missile launches. In addition, the head of the Islamic Jihadzer missile program has just been eliminated.

But not only the infrastructure and the terrorist were destroyed: according to the Ministry of Health in Gaza killed six Palestinians and wounded about 20 others on Wednesday.

Militant Palestinians had previously “fired hundreds of rockets into Israeli territory,” the Israeli military said. Sirens were also heard in the greater Tel Aviv area. It was the first missile warning of this kind there since August last year. Some homes in southern Israel are reportedly destroyed. Several people were injured also on the way to asylums.

At least 10 civilians dead since Tuesday

The renewed escalation of the conflict followed Israel’s targeted killing of three senior members of Islamic Jihad. The army has “wiped out” the leadership of the militant Palestinian organization, Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant said Wednesday night.

Since the beginning of the Israeli military operation “Shield and Arrow” on Tuesday, 21 people have been killed in the Gaza Strip. According to Palestinian sources, at least ten of the dead were civilians.

UN Secretary-General António Guterres condemned the killing of civilians and called on Israel to fulfill its obligations under international humanitarian law, including the Refrain from excessive use of force and protect civilians and civilian infrastructure in armed combat. Firing rockets at Israel from the Gaza Strip is also a violation of international humanitarian law endangering the lives of bystanders on both sidesGuterres warned Wednesday night.

Hopes for a two-state solution are fading

An Israeli anti-terror campaign has been underway for about a year after a wave of violence swept the Middle East last spring. The goal: to eliminate terrorists and restore security. Over the past year, this operation has killed a record number of people in Palestinian territory in decades, many of them not affiliated with any militant organization. Counterattacks by Palestinian militants against Israel during the same period also killed more Israeli civilians than at any time since 2014.

Under these circumstances, the two-state solution shifts to the distant future (this approach to the resolution of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict is intended to create an independent state of Palestine alongside the State of Israel). Not since the 1990s have so few Israelis and Palestinians endorsed the two-state solution.
