Ukraine confirms that more than 500 Russian soldiers have already died in Bakhmut

The Third Separate Assault Brigade of the Ukrainian Armed Forces confirmed on Monday evening on its Telegram account that one of the Russian brigades is trying take full control of the city of Bakhmut they left their positions leaving behind 500 corpses.

In one of his videos on the situation at the front, Prigozhin previously accused the Russian army’s 72nd brigade of abandoning its positions after losing “three square kilometers” in a “strategic” area where the Russians lost 500 men. They took their things and just ran away, Prigozhin said.

In its message, the Third Separate Brigade of the Ukrainian army claims that in two days it eliminated 64 Russian fighters and wounded 87 others in the southeast of Bakhmut, where Ukrainian forces continue to defend the part of the city they still control.

“Among the Russian victims there are mercenaries from the Wagner group», reads the note of the Ukrainian brigade, which also reports on the capture of 5 Russian prisoners of war and the destruction of Russian military material.

Russia launched an offensive on Bakhmut in August last year. Despite controlling most of the territory of the municipality, the Russian forces have still not managed to completely expel the Ukrainians from this smaller town, in the conquest of which they have invested considerable technical and human resources.

Ukraine also suffered significant losses in the defense of Bakhmut. Kiev justifies its insistence on defending its last positions in the city with the advantages of exhausting Russian troops and preventing the launch of offensive actions on other segments of the front line.
