16-year-old killed in knife attack at Polish youth center

A knife attack at a Polish children’s and youth home killed a 16-year-old girl and injured nine other people. The 19-year-old suspect has been caught, a police spokeswoman told the German news agency on Wednesday. The crime took place around 11 p.m. on Tuesday in the town of Tomislawice in the Lodz region.

The attacker is said to have entered the building for unknown reasons and attacked ten people. The 16-year-old resident died at the scene of her injuries. Five injured people have been taken to hospital, their lives are not in danger.

The police arrested the suspect after the crime at his residence nearby. The 19-year-old was sober at the time of the arrest, he was not a resident of the children’s and youth home.
