Putin has nothing to celebrate anymore

Putin’s speech lasted just seven minutes this year.

Vladimir Putin (70) is out of breath. The Russian president spoke about Nazi Germany for just seven minutes during the “Victory Day” parade on Tuesday morning. With this he again lashed out at the West, which wanted to impose its attitude on other countries. “A real war has been unleashed against our homeland,” he added, referring to the fighting in Ukraine that he himself ordered on February 24, 2022.

Not a word of further offensives, not a word of further mobilization: the heavy losses at the front, the growing hatred of the soldiers’ parents and the disgrace of the drones that were able to reach the Kremlin have silenced Putin.

With a shrunken background and no air show

The parade was initially canceled for fear of attacks. Now it took place – albeit in front of a shrunken backdrop and no air show, which was canceled at short notice and without justification during the ongoing celebration. There were also no main battle tanks, with the exception of the historic T-34.

According to official figures, 8,000 soldiers were deployed to Red Square, presumably including men who had fought in Ukraine in recent months. Last year – a few weeks after the outbreak of war – there were about 11,000 soldiers. Back then, people were already talking about a hull force.

The stands were also sparsely occupied. In previous years, heads of state and government from all over the world watched the parade, but this time only high-ranking guests from the former Soviet republics of Kazakhstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, Armenia and of course Belarus, where Putin’s war ally Alexander Lukashenko (68) ) reigns, appeared. A representative from China, which publicly condemned the war for the first time in recent days, was not in sight.

Putin’s feeble speech on his main propaganda stage proved that he not only lost friends, but also impacted the world and even on “Victory Day” there was nothing left to celebrate.
