Kyrylo Budanov, Ukraine’s top intelligence official, confirms murders of Russians around the world – until Ukraine won the war.

Ukraine is killing Russians all over the world. This is confirmed by Kyrylo Budanov (37), head of the Ukrainian secret service of the Ministry of Defense (GUR) in Kiev. “We killed Russians and we will kill Russians all over the world until Ukraine’s complete victory,” Budanov told Yahoo News. That’s “all I want to say on this subject,” Ukraine’s top intelligence official said.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky (45) denied during his recent visit to Finland that his government was involved in attacks abroad. “We are not attacking Putin or Moscow,” Zelensky said. “We are fighting on our territory. We defend our towns and cities.”

Intentionally ambiguous

Budanov does not want to confirm concrete attacks or retaliatory attacks. Like Israel’s Mossad, Ukraine’s military intelligence is also under cover in obscurity. In response to the journalist’s question whether Ukraine was behind the murder of Russian political scientist Darya Dugina († 29) last August, he said that he would say nothing more about it. Dugina, daughter of the notorious Russian nationalist Alexander Dugin (61), was a staunch supporter of the war in Ukraine.

Even after December’s missile attacks on Engels 2 Air Base deep in Russia’s interior, Budanov had said only that he expected further operations of this type to penetrate “deeper and deeper” into enemy territory. Budanov will not be more specific.

Russia is no longer a serious aggressor

Budanov considers Moscow’s offensive power broken. “Today Russia has no military, economic or political potential to launch another attempt at a serious offensive anywhere in Ukraine,” Budanov said.

The enemy is quite capable of conducting defensive operations. “And that is exactly the problem we are facing,” explains the major general, referring to Ukraine’s expected counter-offensive.

For Prigozhin it is a matter of life and death

Yevgeny Prigozhin (61), the leader of the Russian mercenary group Wagner, predicts a similar fate with Budanov as that of war president Vladimir Putin (70): The future of both depends on the war in Ukraine. Prigozhin’s “political future is directly linked to his survival,” said Budanov. “There are too many forces in the Russian Federation that want to eliminate him.”

Putin could save his skin with negotiations as long as the entire Kremlin power apparatus benefits. However, Prigozhin will “of course try to defend himself,” Budanov continues. “Because for him it’s not even about exile or prison, but about life and death.” (kes)
