Palestinian Prime Minister Mohamad Shtayé blamed the Israeli authorities for committing the crime of murdering a prisoner

Jader Adnan, a member of the Islamic Jihad terrorist group and former spokesman for the group, died in the early hours of Tuesday morning in an Israeli prison after 87 days of hunger strike. According to authorities, they found Adnan unconscious in his cell, which is why he was taken to a hospital on the outskirts of Tel Aviv, where he was pronounced dead after several failed resuscitation attempts, according to Europa Press.

Adnan (45) was arrested on February 5 in the place where he lives, Arrabé, when he announced the beginning of a hunger strike, as he did earlier during his stay in prison. Therefore, he refused to undergo medical examinations and treatments, according to Palestinian media. The man was arrested for allegedly belonging to a terrorist group, supporting a terrorist organization and incitement.

Adnan went on four other hunger strikes in Israeli prisons, including a 66-day hunger strike in 2012 to protest detention without charge and a 50-day hunger strike in 2015 after another arrest. A doctor from Doctors for Human Rights Israel recently visited Adnan in prison and warned that he was facing “imminent death” and requested his “urgent” transfer to hospital because he suffered from mobility problems and was unable to hold a “simple conversation”, as the newspaper reported. The Times of Israel.

Then go Middle Eastern eye condemned that Adnan was detained under the regime of administrative detention. Israel’s policy of administrative detention allows the detention of Palestinians without charge or trial for renewable intervals which usually range from three to six months, based on undisclosed evidence that even the detainee’s lawyer cannot see.

Israel’s prisons are controlled by far-right National Security Minister Itamar Ben Gvir, who after taking office in December vowed to crack down on prisoners and detainees on charges related to Israel’s security, including those accused or convicted of terrorism.

Palestinian condemnation

Palestinian Prime Minister Mohamad Shtayé blamed the Israeli authorities for committing the crime of murder against Adnan, which he posted on his social networks. “The occupation, the prison administration and the judiciary committed deliberate murder against Adnan, refusing his request for release, neglecting him medically and keeping him in a cell despite the seriousness of his medical condition,” Shtayé said.

The Palestinian Foreign Ministry, in the same vein, condemned the crime and held the Israeli government “fully and directly” responsible. He also indicated that will submit the file to the International Criminal Court (ICC) and has requested the establishment of an international commission to investigate the circumstances of his death. Islamic Jihad, which also condemned Adnan’s death in an Israeli prison, said “the assassination will not go unchallenged and that the resistance will continue with all strength and determination,” the daily reported. Al Quds.

That’s how he described Adnan as “great leader” and “brave man” who “fell as a martyr”. “It is a crime for which the Israeli occupation bears full and direct responsibility,” he said, before accusing Israel of using “dirty tools” against the deceased, including “fake courts, terrorist security agencies and military trials.” The group emphasized that “the testimony of Sheikh Commander Jader Adnan will be an example for generations of brave people.”

“We will not give up the path of jihad and resistance while Palestine is under occupation” reviewed, as reported by the Palestinian news agency Maan. “Our fight continues and will not stop. The enemy criminal will once again realize that his crimes will not go unanswered and that the resistance will continue with all strength, determination and firmness.” For its part, the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) condemned that “this crime is added to the record of crimes of occupation and terror” against Palestinian prisoners.

“We hold the criminal occupation and its fascist extremist government fully responsible for the crime of his murder, and affirm that this crime was premeditated and cold-blooded,” the letter reads. “Inevitably, the occupation and its fascist government will pay the price for this crime and for all its crimes and terror against our people and our prisoners in the occupation prisons,” Hamas added.

In this context, the daily quotes Palestinian sources Al Quds They indicated that the Al Quds Brigades, the armed wing of Islamic Jihad, mobilized all its elements after the death of Adnan and canceled the trip of members of its political wing abroad to deal with the situation.
