Oklahoma police have found seven bodies while searching for two missing teens. Investigators found the bodies on an estate near the town of Henryetta, Sheriff Eddy Rice said at a news conference Monday.
The police had previously issued a missing persons report in which the two teenagers, two girls aged 14 and 16 and a 39-year-old man were also wanted. “We believe we have located the individuals, we are still awaiting confirmation,” said Sheriff Rice. The coroner has yet to identify the victims.
According to American media, the man is a convicted sex offender. Rice declined to provide details about the location of any bodies or weapons that may have been found on the property.
The police initially gave no further details about the deaths and the background. “We believe there is no further threat to the community,” Rice said.
The city of Henryetta has a population of about 6,000 and is located about 90 miles east of Oklahoma City in the US interior.
