The leader of Islamic Jihad in the West Bank dies in prison after more than 80 days of hunger strike

The one who is considered the leader of a terrorist organization in the West Bank Islamic Jihad, Jader Adnanhe died on Tuesday morning in an Israeli prison, after 86 days of hunger strike.

According to authorities, Adnan was found unconscious in his cell and was taken to a hospital in a Tel Aviv suburb, where he was pronounced dead after several failed resuscitation attempts.

Adnan (44) was arrested on February 5, when he announced the beginning of a hunger strike, as he had done earlier during his stay in prison. He refused to undergo medical examinations and treatment, according to Palestinian media. He was previously arrested and served several prison terms for his association with the Palestinian Islamic Jihad, for which he was also a spokesman.

The non-governmental organization Middle East Eye condemned that Adnan was detained under a regime of administrative detention. Israel’s administrative detention policy allows Palestinians to be detained without charge or trial for renewable intervals, usually between three and six months, based on undisclosed evidence that even the detainee’s lawyer cannot see.
