Wagner boss Yevgeny Prigozhin (61) has been at odds with the Russian Ministry of Defense over ammunition deliveries for months. In an interview with the war blogger Semjon Pegow (37), the mercenary leader has now again commented on the subject – and openly threatened Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu (67).

“I turn to Sergei Shoigu with a request to send us ammunition immediately,” said Prigozhin – and then dropped the bomb. “In the event that this delivery is refused, I am compelled to inform our Commander-in-Chief of this problem in order to make a decision on the expediency of the stay of the Wagner group in Bakhmut in the future given the current shortage of ammunition”. The ‘supreme commander’ should mean Kremlin chief Vladimir Putin (70) personally. In concrete terms, this means that Prigozhin is threatening to withdraw his mercenaries from Ukraine. No ammunition – no mercenaries.

As Prigozhin reveals in the further course of the conversation, he even gave Shoigu a deadline for the next delivery of ammunition – until yesterday, Friday. “The critical deadline to make this decision was actually yesterday,” the dodgy businessman said, adding pressure to the defense minister.

“Then Everything Collapses”

“We – the Wagner Group – are patriots and we will fight to the last bullet in Bakhmut,” he added. “But the patterns are no longer enough for weeks, just for days,” he lamented. “If the shortage of ammunition is not remedied, we will be forced – correctly and not like cowardly rats – to either leave the positions or stay to die,” said Prigozhin.

He will have to withdraw part of the troops. “After that, everything here will collapse,” he predicted.

At the end of the conversation, he talks about the imminent Ukrainian counter-offensive. On this point too, the Wagner boss is clear as usual. “We need the ammunition and we need to stop lying to the Russian people and telling people that everything is fine,” Prigozhin scolded. “The Ukrainian counter-offensive will start no later than May 15. A hundred percent.”
