She could become one of the country’s biggest serial killers if convicted.

Sararat “Am” Rangsiwuthaporn of Thailand, under investigation for the deaths of 13 friends and acquaintances suspected of poisoning them with cyanide, could become one of the biggest serial killers in the country being declared guilty.

The ex-wife of a policeman and four months pregnant Sararat, who he pleaded not guiltyShe was arrested last Tuesday when she was accused of murdering a friend with cyanide, and police are investigating her for at least 12 other deaths, including acquaintances, friends and a boyfriend.

Police reported that when they arrested the 36-year-old suspect in Bangkok, they found a bottle of cyanide, a chemical for industrial use that is highly toxic to humans, reports Channel 3 of Thai television.

death of a friend

Agents began investigating Sararat following the death of her friend Siriporn Khanwong, 32, earlier this month., after going on a trip with the defendant to the river in Ratchaburi province, west of Bangkok. Siriporn collapsed and died right there by the river, where he had come with Sararata to release the fish, a Buddhist practice for good karma.

Siriporn’s relatives reported his death to the police, who found cyanide in the victim’s body, and then began receiving more reports of deaths allegedly linked to Sararat, who they accuse of robbing their victims. The suspect, who admitted that he “knew all the deceased”, “rejects the accusations”Surachate Hakparn, deputy director of the Thai police, told the media on Tuesday, specifying that the alleged motive for the killings was economic affairs.

The clerk stated that the defendant He “owed” money to some of the deceased, while he “stole money and things” from others. The authorities are also investigating the poisoning of the survivor, to whom the suspect also owed money, after she took the medicine given to her by the arrestee.

Possible crimes from 2020

The first of the investigated deaths occurred in December 2020, while at least seven more occurred between 2021 and 2023, and there are some whose dates have not been disclosed. The husband of one of Sararat’s alleged victims, dubbed “Am Cyanide” by the media, told the newspaper bangokbiznews that he is a prisoner He had a good character and never suspected her when his wife passed away.

His wife, Noi, had known Sararat for 6 or 7 months, with whom they invested and also participated in Buddhist rituals, before she died on August 10, 2022. The other alleged victim was Surat Torapab, a high school friend of the suspect who died on January 16, 2021.. Surarat’s boyfriend and alleged father of her future baby, Sutthisak “Dae” Phoonkhwan died on March 12, 2023 and now his friends think Sararat killed him.

The fact that Thais often cremate their dead can make investigations difficult, since autopsies cannot be performed on corpses.. Police believe the accused stole between about 60,000 bats (about $1,450 or almost €1,330) and 300,000 bats (more than $8,750 or almost €8,000) and valuable personal items from her victims.

serial killers

This case is reminiscent of the murders committed by the French in the 1970s charles sobhraj, a serial killer who poisoned some of his victims before killing them in Thailand and other countries and who was made into a hit series by Netflix in 2021. Sobhraj, known as “The Snake” for his ease with escaping justice, was released from Nepal last December prison where he served his sentence since 2003.

in the United States, Belle Bunness killed 42 people with arsenic between 1900 and 1908.while Amy Archer-Gilligan killed at least 20 victims between 1910 and 1916 with the same poison, both becoming the modern archetype of serial poisoners.
