Three and a half weeks after the murder of Lena* († 10) in a children’s home in Wunsiedel, Bavaria, the investigators have another lead. In addition to the eleven-year-old boy who has long been suspected, a 25-year-old man who is now detained has been targeted by the special commission, the police in Bayreuth and the prosecutor’s office in Hof announced on Friday. The suspicion of a sexual offense against the girl was confirmed, it was also said.
The forensic examination revealed that the ten-year-old died from violence to her neck. Forensic technology secured traces of the crime on the night of April 4. The investigators said there was a match pointing to the 25-year-old.
The man is from the neighborhood. He was provisionally arrested on Thursday. After the suspicion against him was upheld, an awaiting trial warrant was issued for murder and a sexual offense. The 25-year-old has not yet admitted the accusation.
According to the detectives, the eleven-year-old was also questioned. However, he did not comment on the fact. The girl was found dead in a room of a youth care institution. The police and the public prosecutor now want to clarify the possible involvement of the boy and the man in the crime. (AFP)
