Two US military helicopters crashed in the interior of Alaska on Thursday (local time). A US Army spokeswoman told the Washington Post that three of the four occupants were killed. One pilot was injured and taken to hospital. According to the Eleventh Airborne Division responsible, the two AH-64 Apache helicopters belonged to a regiment stationed at Fort Wainwright and were returning from a training session.
The reason for the crash near the sparsely populated municipality of Healy, about 130 kilometers southwest of Fairbanks, was therefore still unclear. Emergency workers are on site and it is being investigated, the military unit reports on Twitter. (SDA)
