In Germany, a paraglider in the district of Tuttlingen (D) caused a large-scale operation. The reason for this was a risky flying maneuver that made it seem as if the paraglider had crashed.
As the police in Konstanz announced, police, fire and rescue service pulled out on Thursday evening after being informed by eyewitnesses of the alleged crash of the pilot north of the town of Geisingen. Helicopters, four police patrols, 58 firefighters and 19 rescuers were mobilized to assist the pilot.
The district fire chief and the mayor of Geisingen also got an idea of the situation on site. However, after questioning other witnesses, it turned out that the pilot had not crashed, but had made a so-called spiral dive with his paraglider – and then started his engine again. He then flew “unharmed towards Unterbaldingen”, according to the police. Information about the pilot’s identity would now be accepted. (AFP)
