The Prigozhin family still lives in pure luxury

Last month, Violetta Prigozchina (83) won a surprising victory in an EU court. Her lawyers convinced the judges of the first chamber of the Court of Justice of the EU in Luxembourg that she had no economic ties to her son Yevgeny (61) or his main company Concord. The sanctions previously imposed on them were lifted and the EU Council ordered them to pay court costs.

The court ruling sheds light on the complex legal procedures required to impose sanctions on people close to the Kremlin and their families. The Prigozhins have proved to be a particularly difficult case in this regard.

Now the shady businessman has apparently found a new way to get around EU sanctions. This is reported by the Financieele Dagblad. Prigozhin’s youngest daughter Veronika (18) is the only member of the family not yet placed under Western sanctions. The boastful Prigozhins clearly take advantage of this to keep wallowing in luxury. The family also depends on straw people.

Veronika and her sister Polina (30) love horseback riding. From 2014, the two took part in numerous riding competitions. One thing in particular stood out: none of the horses the sisters competed with were registered with the Equestrian Federation under the name of Prigozhin. Just as sanctions were imposed on Yevgeny Prigozhin’s property in 2019, the horses changed hands. Despite sanctions, Polina was able to participate in international equestrian events with her favorite horse «Cazapiloko» a total of 60 times.

Prigozhin mocks EU

Russian company documents also show that at the end of 2022, Veronika became the owner of a company that manages a hotel in St. Petersburg. It is not uncommon for company shares or entire companies to be moved back and forth within the Prigozhin family. Thus, Wagner does not exist as a single incorporated entity, but as an extensive network of collaborating firms located in varying degrees of proximity to Prigozhin’s parent company, the Concord Group. This is a constant challenge for the West.

In his mother’s case, leaked emails reveal that Violetta’s husband was an executive at a Concord Group company. Samuil Sharkoj was previously general manager of Concord Catering, the company that also cooked for Russian president Vladimir Putin (70). Internal 2021 documents reviewed by the Financial Times also list Sharkoj as a senior executive at Concord Management and Consulting. He died last year. Violetta Prigozchina herself held shares in Concord Management and Consulting from 2008 to 2017.

Despite this, the judges concluded that the connection between Violetta and her son is purely family. The mercenary leader then mocked on the Concord Telegram channel: “I spit and I will spit on all sanctions”.
