Reznikov recalled that at first it was only hoped that the country would somehow survive. “But when the armed forces of Ukraine showed success, everyone began to believe in victory,” the minister said. The emotions and expectations of success are therefore normal.

However, Moscow still controls nearly 20 percent of Ukraine’s territory, including the Crimean peninsula, which was annexed in 2014. A new Ukrainian counter-offensive is expected soon.
