The annoying highway tactic of climate stickers

They stop abruptly, quickly get out and sit on the road: the air conditioning stickers.

one on Twitter Video that has been circulating shows how activists from the group “The Last Generation” blocked a Berlin autobahn on Monday. The climate stickers did not come on foot: they drove their car to the protest area.

They slowly slow down traffic

Similar to illegal speed races on the highways, the protesters sit in three abreast cars at the front of the traffic and then slowly slow down. Instead of hitting the gas like the speedsters on the highway, they get out and hold on.

The vehicles are mostly rental cars. The “Last Generation” transparency report from early 2022 shows that rental cars are a permanent part of their budget.

The mocking reactions piled up on Twitter

Countless Twitter users are annoyed by this approach: “Let yourself be driven to the protest by car, but then bully the drivers. It doesn’t work that way.” Another user writes, “That’s exactly why a rescue job couldn’t be formed.”

But there are also comments that are laughable: one user suggests that car rental company Sixt will use the pasting campaigns as advertising campaigns in the future. The cars from the Twitter video are said to have been borrowed from the well-known German company.

The group Last Generation attracted attention in Berlin on Monday with a large number of protest actions. They call on politicians to take more decisive action against the climate crisis. (A)
