Star Wars icon Carrie Fisher receives Hollywood star posthumously

American actress Carrie Fisher, who rose to fame as Princess Leia in the ‘Star Wars’ saga, is being honored posthumously in Hollywood. The 2,754th star plaque with her name on the famous “Walk of Fame” will be awarded on May 4, the awarding authorities announced Monday (local time). Her daughter, actress Billie Lourd (30), is going to reveal the star.

The star is located just meters from the plaque of Mark Hamill, who played Jedi Knight Luke Skywalker in “Star Wars,” the statement said. Fisher’s mother Debbie Reynolds’ star (“Golddigger-Molly”, “Singin’ in the Rain”) is right across the street.

Fisher died on December 27, 2016 at the age of 60 after suffering a heart attack on a flight from London to Los Angeles a few days earlier. Her mother died just a day after her at the age of 84.

The now-scheduled star ceremony falls on “Star Wars” Day, which is traditionally celebrated on May 4. The English pronunciation of the date (“May the Fourth”) is reminiscent of the famous greeting “May the Force be with you” (in German: “May the force be with you”) from the Star Warrior saga.
