Wagner boss Yevgeny Prigozhin (61) recruited tens of thousands of prisoners directly from the prisons for the Russian invasion. Hundreds of them may have already died in the war.
Anyone who survives his six-month commitment to the war in Ukraine will be pardoned by Vladimir Putin (70) and return home a free man. According to Prigozhin, more than 5,000 former criminals have already returned home.
It is clear that residents are not particularly happy about the return of criminals, some of whom have been convicted of murder and rape. A report by the British newspaper “The Guardian” now shows how pardoned ex-convicts are terrorizing their hometown.
For example, Soslan Valiyev († 38) was recently murdered in the Georgian city of Tskhinvali. A great terror swept through the city. “He was loved by everyone in our tight-knit community,” residents told The Guardian.
As it later became known, local authorities arrested a man named Georgiy Siukayev shortly after the 38-year-old was killed. This is a convicted murderer who was recruited from prison by Prigozhin last fall to fight in Ukraine.
After serving in Ukraine, Siukayev returned to Tskhinvali, where he is believed to have killed Soslan Valiyev. Although Tskhinvali is in Georgia, a return for the convicted killer was possible because the city is part of the Russian-backed breakaway Republic of South Ossetia.
At the end of March, pensioner Yulia Buiskich († 85) was murdered in the Russian city of Novyj Burets. Ivan Rossomachin (28), previously convicted of murder, then fought in Ukraine and returned as a free man, was arrested there a short time later.
Residents of Novyi Burets told The Guardian: “The state, Putin and Prigozhin are responsible for Yulia’s death and must answer for it.” One man, who wished to remain anonymous, said: “You left a sick bastard in society.” (obf)
