The situation at the train stations is currently calm,” said Deutsche Bahn online. “Around 13:00 we will gradually start up long-distance traffic again. DB regional and S-Bahn traffic will start a little earlier,” said a spokeswoman.
Particularly in long-distance traffic, restrictions may still occur hours after the end of the warning strike. According to the online report, rail freight transport will also be affected by the strike and traffic jams will occur in the shunting yards.
The EVG has called on the employees of about 50 railway companies to hold a warning strike on Friday morning from 3 a.m. to 11 a.m. The background to this is the faltering wage negotiations that have been going on since the end of February. The EVG is currently negotiating new collective agreements for about 230,000 employees, 180,000 of whom work for Deutsche Bahn. The next negotiations between EVG and DB are scheduled for next Tuesday.
In a statement Thursday evening, the SBB advises against traveling to Germany on Friday. For cross-border traffic, the SBB uses replacement trains on the Swiss route. However, seating is limited.
