Due to Ukraine’s impending counter-offensive, Kremlin chief Vladimir Putin (70) wants to recruit more soldiers for the war. Last fall there were huge problems and many of the conscripts disappeared. Now Putin wants to track them down with surveillance cameras.

Whether shopping, at work or on the way home: in the future, conscripts will be traced through facial recognition, as the “image” writes.

“Moscow’s video surveillance systems are used to establish the whereabouts of a conscript,” Maxim Loktev, head of the editorial authority, announced on Tuesday. In addition, employers and educational institutions must also provide information about conscripts.

No escape for conscripts

Until now, the summons was handed over in person and had to be signed to be valid. The conscripts easily evaded the contingent by disappearing when the army came to visit. The Kremlin has already done something about this. A new law adopted in an accelerated procedure provides for digital mobilization.

The call will now be sent online to the reservists and will be considered delivered. Those who are in the system and do not report to the military commissariat within 20 days must expect drastic consequences.

Should reservists go to the front?

In this way, Putin now wants to collect 147,000 soldiers and further expand his force. Because the Ukrainian army is also mobilizing people. Wagner boss Yevgeny Prigoshin (61) in Moscow expects a Ukrainian force of up to 400,000 men in a counteroffensive.

Many Russians are afraid of being sent to the front. However, the Russian authorities deny further mobilization. (lia)
