On Sunday, April 16, a Brookhaven, Pennsylvania pizza delivery driver broke off a high-speed police chase with the order still in hand. He was already at the door to drop them off when the incident happened. The camera on the doorbell captured everything:
Delivery driver Tyler Morrell had already reached his destination in Brookhaven, near Philadelphia, when he witnessed a street chase. A 17-year-old and a 19-year-old fled the police at high speed in a stolen Kia.
The getaway car crashed in front of the pizza delivery boy. One of the young people was still arrested in the car, the other wanted to flee on foot. He wanted to run past Morrell, who—still clutching the pizza box—reached out his foot and knocked him down.
Thanks to Morrell’s “footwork”, the police were able to arrest the second youth. “I applaud him for that, but we want people to know that we generally don’t want them interfering,” said Mike Vice, Brookhaven County Police Commissioner. Morrell was able to deliver the pizza undamaged after his act of civic bravery. He is now being celebrated online. (lzo)
