A man died this Sunday after being shot by an unidentified person in the Afghan province of Badghis, in the northeast of Afghanistan. The incident took place in the city of Qades, after the victim had argued with his wife moments before.
The security forces hinted at it the individual tried to flee the place after burning the Muslim holy book before he was shot, reports Europa Press.
Taliban police said an investigation into the case is underway. Blasphemy is a sensitive issue in Afghanistan, where defendants can become targets of extremists.
In 2012, thousands of people attacked NATO’s largest military base in northern Afghanistan. after hearing that the US military had burned copies of the Quran in an “accident”. Dozens of people, including four Americans, were killed during several days of violent protests.
