At least four people have been killed in a gunfire in a small town in the US state of Alabama. At least 20 others were injured, according to a police statement available to US media on Sunday morning (local time). Authorities have not provided information on the ages of the victims or the background to the incident, which occurred around 10:30 p.m. Saturday night in the city of Dadeville.
The incident is said to have happened late Saturday night at a teenager’s birthday party celebrating his 16th birthday. Investigators believe an argument led to the attack. As reported by WRBL-TV, the footage came from a dance studio. It was unclear whether the shooter or gunmen were caught. Dadeville is located about 70 kilometers northeast of the capital Montgomery.
Alabama Governor Kay Ivey, 78, said in a statement: “This morning I mourn with the people of Dadeville and my fellow Alabama compatriots. Violent crime has no place in our state and we will be kept informed by law enforcement when more details emerge.”
A deadly gun attack also took place in the state of Kentucky, north of Alabama, on Saturday night. Shots were fired into a crowd in the largest city of Louisville, police said at a news conference Saturday night. At least two people were fatally injured. At least four people have been taken to hospital with injuries, one of whom is in critical condition. Further details were initially unknown. (nad/SDA/AFP)
