Student accused of throwing eggs at King Charles III. convicted

A student who has at least five eggs in the name of the British King Charles III. was sentenced by a court in York on Friday. The 23-year-old violated public order – even though all the eggs missed their target. The student, who defended himself in court, must now complete 100 hours of community service and pay £600 (approximately €680) in expenses. According to the BBC, he criticized Britain’s asylum and climate policy in court. King Charles and Queen Camilla were in Yorkshire as part of a two-day visit to the incident.

At the beginning of this year, a young Briton was charged with throwing eggs at King Charles III. pay a fine of £100. A court in London had also ordered the 21-year-old to pay court costs of £85. He had previously admitted to throwing an egg at the monarch in the north London town of Luton on December 6. The man explained that he was protesting the King’s visit, which he found unpleasant in a poor area like Luton. (sda/dpa)
