For these reasons, Ukraine should no longer exist

Dmitry Medvedev is once again causing a stir.

Former Kremlin boss Dmitry Medvedev (57) has been provocative since Russia attacked Ukraine. Time and again one of Vladimir Putin’s closest followers (70) makes verbal blunders. In January, for example, he denounced the US government as “freaks” and “bastards”.

Now Medvedev has spoken again on Twitter – in German. In it he describes his vision of why no one needs Ukraine and why the country should be “gone”. Each continent has its own reasons, writes Medvedev.

1

Europe

From the former Russian president’s point of view, support for the government of Volodymyr Zelensky (45), whom Medvedev simply describes as a “Nazi regime”, has “plunged Europe into financial and political hell”. After that, Medvedev claims that “even the brutal and conceited Poles” do not consider Ukraine “a normal country” and talk about annexing the western Ukrainian territories to Poland. A claim that seems untenable given Poland’s continued support for Ukraine since the outbreak of war. Medvedev also talks about how the “young Ukrainian bloodsuckers sit and parasitize on the crooked neck of the weakening EU” and talks about the “final demise of Europe”.

2

USA

The US does not need Ukraine either, writes Medvedev. Ordinary Americans have “no idea what Ukraine is and where it is”. The ex-president is convinced that most of them would not even be able to find the country on a world map. Also asks why the US cares about Ukraine rather than the problems at home. “Sooner or later people will ask these questions,” Medvedev threatens. Then the storming of the Capitol in January 2021 only seems like an innocent game.

3

Africa and Latin America

Medvedev explains why Africa and Latin America don’t need Ukraine. Because the money the US would waste in Ukraine could instead be used for aid programs in African and Latin American countries. Medvedev claims that the first people in Africa and Latin America are already questioning US aid to Ukraine. The former president does not mention that many countries in Latin America maintain close contacts with Russia and are therefore indirectly affected by the sanctions.

4

Asia

Asia doesn’t need Ukraine either, especially for economic reasons, says Medvedev. The “Western leaders who have gone totally brutal” would lure the Asians with the promise of support. At the same time, major powers such as China and India should focus more on their own economic situation. In addition, Russia is geopolitically much closer and is known as “a reliable strategic partner”.

5

Russia

Of course, Russia does not need Ukraine either. Medvedev’s opinion should come as no surprise. Ukraine consists of “artificially composed territories, many of which originally belonged to Russia”. A story that has been repeated by the Russian government since the beginning of the war and is intended to justify Russia’s right to Ukraine.

Similarly, Medvedev repeats the slogan that Russia only wants to free Ukrainians from the “Nazi regime” by “mercilessly destroying the enemy”. “We don’t need this inferior Ukraine. We need the great Russia,” Medvedev writes.

6

Ukraine

At the very end it gets really crazy. Medvedev claims that Ukrainians do not need their own country. “That’s why only a little more than 20 million of the 45 million inhabitants were left behind,” Medvedev alludes to the Ukrainians fleeing after the outbreak of the offensive war. However, there is no mention of the fact that Russia itself contributes to the mass exodus of Ukrainians with its atrocities. Their government would force Ukrainians to become poor and seek a better life in other countries. “Why do Ukrainians need all this ?!” asks Medvedev.

For Putin’s henchman, it is clear: “No one needs such a Ukraine. And therefore they will not exist.” It is more than doubtful that Medvedev’s muddled statements will change anything. (zis)
