The Chinese ruler Xi Jinping is often compared to “Winnie the Pooh”. The Taiwanese Air Force is now mocking it.

The Chinese government has been campaigning against the well-known children’s book and movie character “Winnie the Pooh” for several years now. The Chinese ruler Xi Jinping (69) is said to resemble the childhood hero. The Taiwanese army is now joking about this, the “Spiegel” reports.

A few days ago, the Taiwan Air Force released a photo of her uniform with a cartoonish insignia. It shows Pooh getting punched by a Taiwanese black bear. The black bears, also called Formosa, are considered a symbol of the island state, which was formerly known by this name.

Symbol of resistance against China’s aggression

Taiwanese love the sticker. Alec Hsu, the creator of the patch, is inundated with orders. Apparently not only soldiers but also civilians are enthusiastic about the anti-China badge. “I wanted to use this patch to boost the morale of our troops,” Hsu said.

Recently, tensions between Taiwan and China have risen again. China recently provoked a three-day military exercise off the coast of Taiwan. The reason: Taiwanese President Tsai Ing-wen was visiting the United States. However, the meeting was not well received by China.

The Chinese Communist Party does not find the Pooh Xi comparisons funny. Even the latest movie adventure with the Disney bear has been banned in China. (lia)
