Demonstrations toured cities such as Paris, Nantes, Rennes, Marseille, Lyon and Lorient this Thursday

Yesterday began the eleventh day of protests and mobilization in several cities in France, after the unions demanded that they continue following the “failure” of the Government in the last negotiations with the unions for the controversial pension reform promoted by Emmanuel Macron.

Demonstrations, according to Europa Press, visited cities such as Paris, Nantes, Rennes, Marseille, Lyon and Lorient yesterday. The organizers estimate that up to 800,000 people from all over the country took part in the protests, for which the Ministry of the Interior hired more than 11,000 policemen and gendarmes.

The new general secretary of the General Confederation of Labor (CGT) Sophie Binet led one of the marches in Paris, where she expressed her regret at the position of Prime Minister Elisabeth Borne at a meeting on Wednesday. “They live in a parallel reality. Yesterday’s meeting was a rebuke,” he said.

“There is a social and democratic crisis. The government is in a bunker, they don’t understand what is happening in the country”, said Binet, who defended himself that “there is no other way out but to withdraw this reform”, according to Le Parisien.

Several incidents were reported yesterday, mainly at protests in Nantes and Lyon.
