Ex-Playboy model would have been paid $ 150,000 for her silence

After former US President Donald Trump (76) had to appear in court in Manhattan on Tuesday, more and more details about the charges are coming to light. According to the prosecutor, in addition to the hush money payments to porn actress Stormy Daniels (44), Trump would have muzzled another woman with an immense amount.

It concerns ex-Playboy model Karen McDougal (52), who also claimed to have had an affair with Trump. She would have received a payment of $ 150,000, The Independent reports.

Playboy model and Trump allegedly had a ten-month affair

According to McDougal, she and Trump have been having an affair for ten months. The Republican, on the other hand, denies the affair to this day.

In 2006, the New Yorker magazine reported, citing the model, that the two met at the Playboy Mansion in Los Angeles where Trump was filming an episode of The Apprentice.

Trump, who was married at the time, “immediately liked her,” as McDougal, who won Playmate of the Year in 1998, reported at the time. From then on, they had an affair and, according to the model, met at least five times a month. Compared to “CNN”, she described the relationship with the Republican as loving and consensual.

Tabloids bought McDougal’s story and never published it

In 2016, hush money was paid: in the run-up to the presidential election, McDougal allegedly signed a contract for $ 150,000 to tell her story exclusively to the tabloid National Enquirer, which was then published by American Media.

The contract prohibited her from speaking publicly about the alleged affair. However, the article about McDougal’s story was never published – so the model is sure that is how she was silenced.

Buying a story exclusively and then destroying it is known as “catch and kill”. The tabloid reportedly used such practices to cover up negative stories about Trump.

In 2021, the U.S. Federal Election Commission concluded that the publisher of the National Enquirer had violated election laws by paying for the rights to Ms. McDougal’s story and never publishing it. According to the agency, the money paid to the model constituted an illegal campaign donation. The National Enquirer was subsequently fined $187,500.

McDougal has not commented on the alleged affair or the hush money payments since indicting Trump. (dzc)
