These images were hard to bear. A gang of girls between the ages of 13 and 16 from Germany tormented their victim of bullying (13) for hours at the end of February. They stubbed out cigarettes on the teen, beat her and set her hair on fire. The video caused horror. The police arrived and investigated for bodily injuries. Now two of the tormentors, aged 14 and 15, apologize to their victim.

The two main perpetrators burst into tears when they confronted the 13-year-old. “I’m so sorry for what I did to you,” says the 15-year-old, as “Bild” reports. She promised her never to be afraid of her again. “We deeply regret participating in it.”

The three girls embraced reconcilingly. The line-up was put together by a bullying expert who has been working with young people in the area since the incident became known.

‘My daughter realized what she had done to the girl’

The teens informed the 13-year-old that from now on she could turn to them if she had any problems. The parents of the tormentors were also involved in the handling of the case. This is what one of the mothers told “Bild”, talking about the big mistake her daughter had made. She realized she had to take responsibility for her behavior.

The tormented student accepted the apologies of her tormentors. However, she is not going back to school at the moment and has to recover from the tension of the terrible attack. Nevertheless, she and her mother are happy that the two main perpetrators have been reconciled.

The mayor of Heide in Schleswig-Holstein, Oliver Schmidt-Gutzat, stated that he had been struggling with bullying in schools for some time after the case. He speaks of a “hard core that we cannot control with our capabilities”. Schmidt-Gutzat wants to increase the number of social workers and hire a street worker who can mediate among the young people.
