The ongoing protests in France against the pension reform are increasing. Street fights regularly take place between the police and demonstrators. The police sometimes used a lot of force, as can be seen in the video.
The actions of the police have been sharply criticized by various authorities. The human rights organization “Amnesty International” and the Council of Europe describe the actions of the officials as reprehensible.
According to Reporters Without Borders, local media workers are also affected by arbitrary arrests, attacks and intimidation.
It is unclear how long the protests will last – but more demonstrations have already been announced for this week. (sal)
