The Swiss airline will cancel all flights between Switzerland and Munich on Sunday due to the strike of transport workers in Germany. All connections to Munich and Frankfurt will be canceled on Monday.
Flights to Berlin, on the other hand, are not affected by the strike and are taking place as planned, Swiss media spokesman Michael Stief told Keystone-SDA news agency on Friday. The effects on flights from Switzerland to Dresden, Düsseldorf, Hanover, Hamburg, Nuremberg and Stuttgart are currently being investigated.
According to the information, Swiss will contact all passengers who provided a telephone number or email address at the time of booking. The airline asks people who have booked through a travel agent to contact them.
German trade unions have called on their members in the transport sector to hold nationwide warning strikes on Monday in the fight for wage increases. In some places there should be actions as early as Sunday. In addition to rail and air traffic, waterways, ports and motorways are also affected.
Due to the strike, there will be no regular passenger and freight traffic at Munich Airport on Sunday or Monday. Deutsche Bahn also announced on Thursday that it would completely shut down long-distance traffic next Monday. Even in regional traffic “there will usually be no trains running”.
Due to the railway strike in Germany, the SBB is replacing numerous cross-border trains – but only in Switzerland itself. They advise against traveling to the northern neighboring country on Monday.
